Writing as Re-Writing

This is a supplemental course that builds on the revising sessions in other courses and focuses.  The focus of this class is singular: the hard work of re-writing, the task of standing outside of one’s work and being one’s own critic and editor.  It teaches a student how to take a first (or second draft) to a final product through a series of steps and checklists.  The classes start with the big concepts that are critical in revising an essay (thesis development and thematic unity) and move to the smaller refinements (diction and grammar) to demonstrate how a structured process can make re-writing easier.

Re-Writing is a three class minimum though it can be extended for an additional class if necessary.
